What to Expect From Your In-Home Newborn Photoshoot

In-Home Newborn Photoshoots are so popular amongst expecting parents to capture the early and blurry days of their family together. First time parents love the opportunity to photograph their new baby in their home, and to capture the nursery where they will spend so much time together. And more experienced parents, like this big family of six, love the convenience of not having to travel with their older siblings!

If you decide to do an in-home newborn photography session, here are some things you can expect:

✔️ We recommend booking your newborn session early in your pregnancy. Once baby is born, you will reach out to schedule your photoshoot. In-home sessions are typically held M-F at 11:30 am.

✔️ Travel within one hour of Trumbull, CT is included. I am happy to travel further, including out of state and New York City for an additional day rate.

✔️ I am happy to provide wardrobe for your session. While you can come to the studio to try things on, or schedule a virtual consultation, most moms find it easiest to just provide me with some loose guidelines and to let me bring a variety of items to choose from in person.

✔️ While you get the family dressed, I will take some solo shots of the baby. These will be more relaxed than studio shoots are, and the solo photos are typically taken in the crib. If you don’t have a crib or lighting isn’t ideal, I also bring a bassinet that can be used or we can take photos on the master bed.

✔️ I have several pairs of neutral jammies for the baby, but we often swaddle them to make posing easier.

✔️ Next, we’ll take the family photos. These can be taken on the master bed, in the living room, in the nursery, or anywhere in your room that you love with good light. Family pets are welcome to join!

✔️ We’ll move through more posing with siblings, each parent with the baby, and a variety of sitting and standing poses. If you’d like to use more than one room for photo, we can!
